There will be free equipment and instructions available for junior Nordic skiers from 10am to 1pm. Catamount Trail Association (CTA) Outreach Program is bringing its 30 sets of Junior Rossignol skis, boots and poles and will size the children and lend them equipment for the event. CTA professional instructors will also be on hand to offer free lessons and instructions to the children on the groomed loop in the Whisker's field. This is part of the "January Learn to Ski Month" initiative. The "Skiing Kids in School" equipment will also be available. Stowe school children have priority over the 30 sets of skis and boots and can borrow their regular equipment for the weekend by notifying Brian Barney and making arrangements by Friday 8am. This is on a first come first serve basis only. All equipment must be returned in perfect condition by Tuesday, January 17th, 8am or the participant will be charged for the repair or replacement of damaged gear. Keep in mind that the equipment will be used at SES on Tuesday morning so it absolutely needs to be returned as explained above. All available ski equipment will be in the Whisker's Field, adjacent to the Jewish Community Center on the Mountain Rd and Cape Cod Rd intersection. Bring a piece of identification, credit card or car keys which will be used as collateral and returned at the end of the event. All CTA equipment must be returned by 1:30pm. S.K.I.S. equipment can also be returned immediately following the event unless other prior arrangements have been made. Adult equipment can be rented at various Stowe locations. Here are our suggestions (see bottom of page).
